Why FRH for crossings
A flexible floating dredging hose carries its own closed-cell foam layer, so there is nothing to bolt on, nothing to lose overboard, and the line follows the current instead of fighting it.
Under working conditions with sand content ≤30%, at least 30% of the outer diameter stays above the water line.
When external floaters win
For long straight offshore mains, HDPE pipe plus FLT floaters is cheaper per metre and easier to repair section by section.
